A ‘challenge’ about bargaining between multiple employers amid controversy over the IR bill

Independent MP Kilia Tink says two parts of the government’s industrial relations bill are “very strong”, but there are challenges around negotiation between multiple employers.

“The definition of small business, you know, right now you only have to hire 15 people, not even on a full-time basis, to get involved in this,” Ms Tink told Sky News Australia.

“Certainly, North Sydney people want to see wages move, I think that’s the really important thing.

“I think our biggest concern, and I personally worry the most, is that we’ve been thrust into this level of multi-employer bargaining, but we’ve lost an entire conversation about awards.”
