‘A little history’ as Irish lawmaker brings baby to Parliament

History was made in the Irish Parliament in Dublin on September 21, according to its chairperson, as legislator Violet Ann Wayne became the first TD (as Members of Parliament are known in Ireland) to bring her child into the room. Sean O Fearghail, speaker, or ceann comhairle, paused to note, “We’re seeing a piece of history being made tonight” as Wynne returns from maternity leave with her new baby. “Baby Collins is the first real baby to join us here,” he joked.
