‘Act of despair’: Four occupied Ukrainian regions plan to hold referendums on joining Russia

Separatists in four Ukrainian regions currently occupied by Russian forces say they want referendums this weekend to join Russia.

Western leaders were quick to dismiss any future results as bogus.

Kremlin-backed officials have reportedly announced referendums to annex itself from Ukraine in the Kherson, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhya regions.

“The referendums will not change anything, it is a desperate act for Russia, but it will not help them,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
