Afghan people deserve ‘hope’ through cricket: ‘boycott’ anti-Taliban side voices

According to Sky News host Caleb Bond, the Australian cricket team should not “sideline” anti-Taliban voices by not participating in the tour against Afghanistan.

“All we’re really doing is denying the Afghan people a much-needed outlet to distract themselves from the pain of living under the Taliban regime,” Bond said.

“I don’t think you can argue that the Afghan cricket team in any way reflects the Taliban, especially when its stars explicitly admonish their actions.

“Afghanistan’s rise to world cricket has been one of its great successes in recent times. It is something that can allow the people of Afghanistan, not the Taliban, to connect with the rest of the world.”
