Amazon is adding another Prime Day to the calendar.

The company announced Monday that the sale, called the “Prime Early Access Sale,” will take place October 11-12. The 48-hour event is only for members of its Prime subscription program and will offer discounts on “hundreds of thousands” of items.

The “Prime Early Access Sale” will be available in 15 countries including Canada, China, France, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Amazon is following its competitors in getting a head start on the holiday shopping season. Walmart announced last week that it will begin holiday sales early next month, and Target said its shopping kick-off, called Deal Days, will take place October 6-8.

The launch of holiday shopping sales in October will help attract budget-conscious shoppers, according to Neil Saunders, retail analyst and managing director at GlobalData Retail.

“Consumers will begin holiday shopping earlier this year as they look to spread out costs at a time when household income is shrinking,” he previously told CNN Business.

However, getting hung up on all those early deals might not spark a shopping frenzy during the most important sales period of the year for retailers, which historically begins in earnest on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.

Families across the country continue to struggle with persistently high inflation killing their budgets and savings, forcing them to cut back on spending.

Consulting firm Deloitte expects holiday retail sales to increase overall for the key year-end gift buying months in November, December and January (when Christmas gift cards are usually redeemed) by 4% to 6%, down sharply from a strong increase of 15.1% in the same frame. timeline last year.
