Australia ‘quickly loses its attractiveness’ as study shows 600,000 people want to move

Sky News host Cory Bernardi says a new study shows nearly 40 per cent of Australians aged 18-29 are considering moving abroad next year.

“That’s twice the rate for the rest of us, but it all adds up to an estimated 600,000 Australians moving elsewhere,” he said.

Bernardi said young people are most willing to make the move and are “attracted by work visas” in countries such as Canada, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

“Countries are now taking competitive action to retain and attract talent, yet Australia appears intent on keeping them away with excessive taxation, and a lot of red, green, blue and black tape,” he said.

“We are rapidly losing our attractive edge and our politicians – and bureaucrats – seem intent on making it worse.”
