Business confidence rose to 18.2 in January from minus 19.5 in December. However, the index remained firmly below the zero threshold, indicating clear pessimism among companies.
Firms’ expectations became less negative regarding future production, order books, the future general economic situation, and employment. Moreover, companies are becoming less pessimistic about the current overall economic situation.
FocusEconomics Consensus forecast committee members expect fixed investment to expand 6.3% in 2023, up 0.1 percentage point from last month’s estimate. For 2024, the committee sees fixed investment growth at 5.9%.
