Chicago crime: Corey Simon’s car stolen twice in 3 hours: ‘Luck is on my side’

Chicago (WLS) – Corey Simon could hardly believe it himself.

“I mean whose car was stolen twice in three hours,” he asked loudly.

First, stealing a noisy daylight car straight from the auto shop. It happened on Monday, Simon said, when he took his 2017 Jaguar SUV for an oil change.

A dark, four-door car got up, two people in masks got out, and then entered the bay where Simon’s car hood was up. Shut it up, jump, and go.

“Masked men came in and took the car and kidnapped it,” Simon said.

Simon called the police – they were there in minutes – and showed them the GPS tracker in the car.

“We found it on the West Side of Chicago,” he said.

His Jaguar went from Bucktown to the 2,600 block of W Madison in East Garfield Park.

CPD accompanied him to his car. Simon got his car back and took it to his local gas station to fill it up, then, “I got out of my car, filled up on gas, and someone else stole my car and got off.”

He says that within three hours, his car was stolen twice. He said he let her work while checking in at the gas station.

“He’s gone in 60 seconds or less,” he said. “The nozzle was in the tank, the gas was flying everywhere.”

This time the car moved from 2,300 blocks from West Fullerton in Bucktown to Douglas Park.

“I called the two officers who helped me earlier and they said, ‘You’ll never believe this, but my car was stolen again.'”

Chicago police managed to get his car back. Simon said there were paintings stolen on them by the time they got them back, and that he is grateful for the swift action by the police.

“It’s just a life lesson that we should all be careful about our surroundings and be smart and persistent,” he said.

As for his friends and family?

“They’re asking me to buy some lottery tickets at this point,” he said. “Luck is on my side, and I hope it will be good luck this time.”
