Electrical impulse brain implants: The inner universe

Inner Cosmos introduces a new BCI, a brain-computer interface first unveiled last year in September. The neurotechnology company is highlighting the Digital Pill, a new brain implant designed to help treat depression using tiny electrical impulses once successfully inserted into a patient’s skull.

Now that she was running her second experiment, the digital pill is about the size of a penny and sends pulses to her left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex between 15-minute intervals. The pill also helps monitor neuron activity to help understand how much stimulation to give to a patient’s brain. The device is located under the skin and is non-invasively placed on the skull, Forbes reported.
