Employment Opportunities and Labor Turnover Survey: Job openings decreased in October

And while the bottleneck rate remains high, total dismissals held steady in October as hiring eased slightly. Layoffs increased slightly with quits decreasing slightly. Overall, these labor market metrics showed very little changes from September. pic.twitter.com/XDZo45f8Sq

Although the smoking cessation rate remains above standard, it has been declining for months. Employment continues to outpace layoffs in every major sector as workers seek and find new jobs. pic.twitter.com/WLAPd8bC0v

The downward trend in employment is the most prominent feature of today’s report (particularly in the private sector).
