England’s victory in the 2022 European Football Championship over Germany marked the peak of BBC One’s 17.4 million viewers, making it the most watched women’s football match on UK TV.
The 2-1 win in extra time is also the most watched program in the UK so far in 2022.
There were an additional 5.9 million streams of the game on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app.
A record crowd of 87,192 spectators watched the match at Wembley Stadium.

The previous highest TV viewing peak for women’s football in the UK was 11.7 million after England’s World Cup semi-final defeat to the United States in 2019.
27.4 million fans watched the BBC’s coverage of Euro 2022 across the tournament.
