Eye-tracking informational aquariums: ai aquarium

The Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, also known as ITRI, presents its new AI aquarium, which tracks a visitor’s eyes. By following the eyes, it can then display information about the fish inside the tank and introduce a new way to interact with the experience.

The innovative new tanks have two depth-sensing cameras capable of understanding 3D information – one on the outside and one on the inside. A camera on the outside helps keep track of the observer’s eyes and see where they are looking inside the tank. An internal camera then tracks the position of the fish to match its vision. The footage from the second camera goes through a recognition algorithm to determine which species of fish are stored in the database.
