GCash GTV breaks the 3-T mark in the first half

G-Xchange Inc. announced. The operator of GCASH reported that the electronic payment platform breached the P3 trillion mark of total transaction value (GTV) in the first half of the year, roughly equaling 2021’s GTV of $3.8 trillion.

With this development, GCash expects to end the year with 6 trillion P6 in GTV, “six times what it was in 2020 and nearly double last year… excluding any unforeseen circumstance.”

“We are seeing more user interaction now that things are starting to normalize, which is further evidence that GCash has become an integral part of the daily lives of Filipinos,” said Martha Sazon, President of GCash.

This growth is driving the growing GCash user and merchant base.

To date, GCash has a user base of 66 million, which roughly translates to four out of every five adult Filipinos. GCash also has around 5.2 million social sellers and merchants under its belt, making it the “largest digital ecosystem in the Philippines.”

“It just shows that Filipinos are turning to a more digital lifestyle that is not limited to those during the lockdowns. We continue to see adoption growing, even daily use and the diversity of use cases increasing. I think adoption is here to stay and we are not seeing it declining,” said Sazon. In the near future”.
