Hulu is cutting ties with “Rick and Morty” animator Justin Roiland

Hulu has ended its relationship with animator Justin Roiland, a day after Adult Swim announced that he would no longer star in the popular “Rick and Morty” animated series.

The move follows reports that Roiland is facing two felony domestic violence charges, first reported by NBC News earlier this month.

Roiland though He was a producer and voice actor on the Hulu shows, “Solar Opposites” and “Koala Man,” which is no longer the case, according to a brief statement from the broadcaster.

“We have ended our relationship with Justin Roiland,” the statement said.

Like “Rick and Morty,” the two shows will continue without his participation.

Roiland’s departure from all of his shows comes while he awaits trial on one felony count of domestic battery with bodily injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by means of threat, violence, fraud, and/or deception.

Charges were initially filed in May 2020, and Roiland was arrested and released on $50,000 bail in August 2020.

According to NBC News, during his trial in October of that year, Roiland pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He did not respond to requests for comment on Adult Swim’s and Hulu’s decisions to drop Roiland.

The next court hearing in Roiland is scheduled for April 27.
