James Jean says there is no new Superman at the moment

middle Rumors swirl around director James Gunn clearing the air over who will play DC’s Superman in future films.

Gunn, who took the reins of DC Studios as new co-executive director in October with producer Peter Safran, took to Twitter to address recent rumors that trance Star Jacob Elordi is set to play the Man of Steel in the next Superman movie.

The director previously directed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and DC suicide squad. Gunn also created and supervised the first season of DC peace maker as a browser.

“My thoughts are no one has ever been depicted as Superman yet,” Gunn tweeted on Friday in response to a tweet in which a fan superimposed the young actor’s face onto the superhero’s body.

“Transmission, as it always does with me, will happen after the script is finished or near completion, which it isn’t,” Gunn continued. “We’ll be announcing a few things not too long ago, but casting Superman won’t be one of them.”

Over the decades, actors Kirk Alen, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, Brandon Routh, Tyler Hoechlin and, more recently, Henry Cavill have portrayed on screen, over the decades.

Last month, Cavill announced that he would not be returning as Superman after meeting with Jon and Safran about the hero’s future. The actor’s announcement came just two months after he made a cameo appearance Black Adam.

After taking over, Gunn and Safran have been working on a decade-long plan for films featuring DC superhero properties, with Gunn saying they focus on “new” films and not “cancelled or past projects.”
