The king, who is visiting Northern Ireland as part of a tour to mourn his mother Queen Elizabeth II, was greeted by cheering crowds and welcoming speeches, before making his pledge to the region.
Soon after, when signing a book for visitors in front of the cameras at Hillsborough Castle near Belfast, the King reacted in frustration when he leaked a pen he was using on his hand.
“Oh my God, I hate this [pen]said King Charles, standing up and handing the pen to his wife and Queen Camilla.
“Look, it’s going everywhere,” said the queen as the king licked his fingers.
“I can’t stand this bloody thing… every time it stinks,” said King Charles, turning away from the scene.

Charles may be fun, but he’s also quick-tempered and demanding, a former aide told Reuters before Queen Elizabeth II died.

On Saturday, at the signing of the documents in London, an angry King Charles signaled to his aides for help when a pen holder on the table stood in his way.

When completing the documents on Tuesday, he also used the wrong date, before checking with an aide who told him the date was September 13, not September 12.
