An elderly couple died after lightning struck four people in a lawn outside the White House compound.

Local authorities believe 76-year-old James Mueller and 75-year-old Donna Mueller were standing under a tree, trying to ride out a thunderstorm in Lafayette Park, when it hit them just before 7 p.m. local time.
