Lambert and I, and many readers, agree that Ukraine has fostered the worst media environment ever. We hope that readers will cooperate in mitigating the fog of war – the real fog and theater fog – in the comments. None of us need more encouragement and repetition of memes without association; There are platforms for that. Low-value, correlation-free boom boom waves will be hit.

And for those new here, this isn’t just a polite request. We have written the site policies and those who have commented have agreed to these terms. To prevent having to resort to the nuclear option of shutting down comments entirely until more rationality prevails, as we did during the 2015 Greek bailout negotiations and shortly after the 2020 elections, we will be ruthless in terms of moderating and blacklisting offenders.

Also note, before further confirming brokers that have already been confirmed, read our site policies:

Please do not write to us to ask why a comment did not appear. We do not have the bandwidth to investigate and respond. Using the comments section to complain about moderation decisions/tripping wires earns hanging troll points. Please, don’t do that. These comments will also be removed if we encounter them.

Antidote today. Sheetge:

Since you kindly used one or two of my photos as Snowberry, I thought you might enjoy the supplement, Snowberry’s larger “cousin”: the clear moth of the hummingbird.

I regret that I don’t have either side by side (which it does but so far these photos aren’t sharp enough), but as a general rule to tell the two apart: Snowberry has dark legs and a black cummerbund; The clearwing hummingbird has a red cummerbund and light legs.

And bonus:
