‘My door is open to this’: PM addresses dissenting audio

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was “ready” to take practical proposals for legislation for the vote to parliament amid Opposition Leader Peter Dutton asking for more details.

“My door is open to this,” Albanese told Sky News’ political editor Andrew Clennell in a sitdown interview.

“Because it is up to Parliament very clearly in the wording that I have submitted as a draft – it means that it can be changed over a period of time.

“So Peter Dutton…if he succeeds after the next election, he will of course be in a position to step up and improve.”
