One person was killed and 4 others were injured in a shooting Thursday night in Texas, after more than 50 bullets were fired

At least one person was killed and four injured in a shooting outside a club in Houston early Sunday morning, authorities said.

“Over 50 shots were fired” in the parking lot of the “kind of cabaret/bar,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said during a news conference.

Gonzalez said police returned fire around 2 a.m. and learned that five people had been shot. All the victims were taken to the hospital.

He added that one person died and the police were still trying to determine the extent of the injuries of the four victims. According to Gonzalez, two men and three women are believed to have been shot.

He said, “It looks like more than 50 shots were fired here, which is a pretty scary situation considering there was a mobile food truck and … the number of patrons who were outside.”

The media officials were “preliminary,” Gonzalez said, but the shooting appeared to be a drive-by shooting.

“We think there may have been a car that pulled up around 2am,” he said. “There were several people inside the car, they got out of the car, and started shooting at the customers who were outside the club at the time.”

Authorities said homicide detectives are investigating the shooting and trying to find witnesses.
