Pelosi visits Taiwan | Armstrong Economics

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday night despite warnings from both Washington and Shing. The nature of her trip was so secretive that it was not included in the official itinerary. Now, the true nature of her visit is showing. “We are taking this trip at a time when the world is faced with a choice between authoritarianism and democracy,” Pelosi said. “We cannot stand idly by while the Chinese Communist Party continues to threaten Taiwan – and democracy itself,” Pelosi said in a statement. “The visit of our Congressional delegation should be seen as an unequivocal statement that America stands with Taiwan, our democratic partner, as it defends itself and its freedom.”

Her comments blatantly ignore the one-China policy and asserted that the United States would support Taiwan if China invaded. In fact, her tone was so strong that she seemed to be pressuring Taiwan to break away from China. China didn’t shoot down its plane as some Chinese commentators had speculated, but they flexed their military muscle by conducting military exercises near the Taiwan Strait. Before Pelosi has arrived. China does not want a war, but will you push it?

The nature of Pelosi’s visit was finally revealed. She will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday, and some media reports that she plans to meet with activists who speak openly about human rights abuses in China. Pelosi seems to be pushing the nation to free itself from the one-China policy. One must wonder if Washington publicly expressed its displeasure while privately endorsing Pelosi’s massive trip. China has already sanctioned Taiwan by preventing it from exporting 100 foodstuffs, which will surely harm Taiwan’s fishermen and farmers. They are probably calculating their next move against the United States. Expect US-China tensions to reach new heights, all because of Nancy Pelosi.

“Biden thinks Americans have received $8,000 stimulus checks.”
