Aftermeal owner, Ong Pei Chin (also known as Pei) said, “I started research and development with shaving ice tea. After trying over a dozen different teas, my team and I finally chose an excellent type of oolong tea called Iron Lady Tea ( Tie-Guan-Yin).After more than 100 trials and errors, today’s Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori has evolved into our best seller.It has had such positive feedback that all our friends and family have endorsed it,and urged us to build our relationships [physical] a store.”
Pei, who has a background in engineering and information technology, claimed that he lacked a mechanism to ensure good service or consistent food quality. It took me a while to get to know the food and beverage industry. For example, Pai – a big fan of tea – was not aware that tea was a product strongly influenced by the seasons.
“Food raw materials do not follow our common sense, unlike engineering and IT. Our candy quality has changed dramatically as a result. There are times when our customers leave the store happy, and there are other situations where the situation is so bad that we literally have customers scolding our colleagues at the work “. According to Pei, they have started a thorough quality check of the sweets on a regular basis since then. Aftermeal staff is constantly seeking consumer feedback to ensure that all is well.
When asked what distinguishes Aftermeal from other dessert places, he replied that they only serve shaved ice, cake and drinks. “We do not intend to serve main dishes, and therefore we will devote all our time and work to making desserts only. Not just sweets, but desserts that make people happy.” Hence their motto: “Happiness, you deserve it.” During the pandemic, he struggled after the meal. Bai noted that icing and cake do not travel well through delivery services.
We’ve been in a lot of trouble during the pandemic. Every month, we were literally losing money, and at some point, we thought about giving up completely. [But] We insisted, and the rest, as they say, is history. I’m so glad we didn’t give up and we were able to keep going, Aftermell is working fine at the moment.” There are three basic specialty desserts in Aftermeal. The first is a high-quality blend of Iron Lady tea and milk called Iron Lady Milk Tea Kakigori. Extras include Brown sugar granules, almond flakes, jelly, and red kidney beans.
Next up is the brilliant green Royal Matcha Kakigori, which comes with brown sugar jelly pearls and matcha ice cream underneath, and is generously dusted with matcha powder. Additional toppings include bowls of rubbery pearls, sweet potatoes, and taro balls drizzled with brown sugar sauce. You can eat it alongside shaved ice or on its own. It is all up to you. The next popular dessert on their list is called Royal Calamansi Yokan Kakigori. It is served with longan, rubbery white pearl, and pearl made from passion fruit and calamansi. If you enjoy sweet and sour meals, then you must try this treat made with chunks of ice.
Despite the three bestselling and signature products, we’ve discovered something we think all chocolate lovers should try. You will die for them Dark Milo Kakigori. Chocolate ice cream accompanied by Milo Nuggets hidden inside shaved ice. Multi-chocolate sauce is served alongside this dish of chocolate dessert. This is indeed a great treat for Milo lovers. Aftermeal Sweets also offers delicious burnt cheesecakes in three different flavors. Classic burnt cheesecake, matcha cheesecake and burnt cheesecake from Iron Lady. All three types of cake are delicious, rich and creamy to the extreme.
We tried the winter melon calamansi, the Super Iron Lady milk tea, and the wild honey milk tea from their drink menu. The classic winter watermelon tea has a strong flavor that is not overly sweet and of course the clear pearl added a nice surprise. But the wild honey milk tea is without a doubt my favourite. The combination of milk and honey blends so wonderfully that it’s no surprise that people keep coming back for more.
After meal desserts are a great place to go after dinner. The options may seem simple, but Aftermeal has contributed its own touch to their menu, so you should savor it to understand it. It is without a doubt one of the best dessert places to visit if you want to shave the ice. Pei confirmed his intention to develop enough outlets to cover key areas of Malaysia so that Aftermeal can bring happiness to as many people as possible.
