The Telugu film surpassed the opening day collection of the two Tamil films playing in theatres. Vijay-starrer Varisu and Ajith-starrer Thunivu were released on Wednesday, the week before the Pongal festival, Makar Sankranti. In comparison, Varisu grossed ₹26.5 crore on its first day, while Thunivu grossed ₹26 crore.
Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film “Waltair Veerayya” is also scheduled to be released on Friday.
This is Balakrishna’s first film since 2021’s Akhanda.
Fans erupted in celebrations with ‘Jai Palaya’ slogans when Balakrishna arrived at Pramaramba Theater in Kokatpalli district to watch the film.
There is a festive atmosphere in theaters in both the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as fans of the actor celebrated the film’s release by hitting the theaters in rallies. They are seen singing and dancing. In Telangana, Nizamabad, fans of the actor took part in a massive car rally.
Directed by Gopichand Malineni and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Shruti Haasan. Promised by the makers that Balayya will appear in an ensemble and action-packed role like never before, Balayya is said to have played a dual role in the action-thriller. The big cast includes Varalaxmi Sarathkumar from Kollywood and Duniya Vijay from Sandalwood.
The makers have high expectations from the movie which has music by S. Thaman. Mass Mogadu and Jai Balayya’s song line and movie trailer with strong dialogues and intense action has already received massive response from the fans.
Trade experts hope it will turn into a financial hit at the box office. They expect huge groups during Sankranti holidays. In 2022, the Telugu film industry has overtaken Bollywood to become the highest-grossing film production area in the country, thanks mostly to the global success of SS Rajamouli.
