Video: Witness: Turkish planes launch air strikes on Kurdish militia bases in northern Syria

On Sunday, the Turkish Ministry of Defense said that Turkey had launched air strikes in areas of northern Syria and Iraq, targeting Kurdish groups that Ankara considers responsible for the bomb attack last week in Istanbul.

The ministry said in a statement that the warplanes attacked bases of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party and the Syrian People’s Protection Units. It was accompanied by photos of F-16s taking off and footage of an airstrike from a drone.

The air strikes took place a week after a bomb exploded in a busy street in the heart of Istanbul, killing six people and wounding more than 80 others.
