YouTube Palaces: YouTube challenges TikTok to give short film creators 45% of ad sales

YouTube has revealed a new way for creators to make money from short video, as it faces stiff competition from TikTok.

The Google-owned streaming service announced Tuesday that it will serve ads on its short video feature and give creators 45% of the revenue. That compares to its record 55% distribution of out-of-short videos, and TikTok’s $1 billion fund to pay creators.

“We want YouTube to be the place that gives (creators) the most support in the changing digital landscape,” said Neil Mohan, YouTube’s chief product officer.
